For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”
– Matthew 18:20 (NIV)

Today's commentary
by Dave Whitehead, Senior Pastor, GraceNYC.org Author of Making Sense of the Bible

It doesn’t take many people, but God is best experienced in community. There are people who say, “I don’t need anyone – it’s me and Jesus”, but that is not what Jesus taught. The God who is in all places has promised to let us know His unusual presence when we gather with other followers of Christ. This doesn’t need to happen on Sunday morning – it can happen during a lunch break, a basketball game, or a hobby club. So don’t miss time with God’s people. Community is one of the wonderful gifts that God has given us to know Jesus.

"Beware of the false prophets! They come to you wearing sheep's clothing, but underneath they are hungry wolves! You will recognize them by their fruit. Can people pick grapes from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles?
Matthew 7: 15-16 Complete Jewish Bible

Dear friends, don't trust every spirit. On the contrary, test the spirits to see whether they are from God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
