The Daily Bible Verse 11th January 2019

Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing.
– 1 Timothy 2:8 (NIV)

Today's commentary
by Dave Whitehead, Senior Pastor, GraceNYC.org Author of Making Sense of the Bible

This instruction to the men of the church still stands today. There is a great need for prayer in our nation, and if there is any time to put aside minor differences for the sake of seeking God, it is now. Through mass media, believers are seeing that we are more alike than we are different. We live as community in our churches to display the peace that Jesus offers. So as we lift our hands in worship and surrender, are we willing to let go of petty disputes to honor our LORD the way that he wants to be honored?

Psalm 100: 4

"Beware of the false prophets! They come to you wearing sheep's clothing, but underneath they are hungry wolves! You will recognize them by their fruit. Can people pick grapes from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles?
Matthew 7: 15-16 Complete Jewish Bible

Dear friends, don't trust every spirit. On the contrary, test the spirits to see whether they are from God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
